What Our Clients Are Saying...

“Food isn’t a source of guilt”

Working with Mary Frances has been life changing. I have had such a negative experience with my body image that greatly affected my relationship with food and Mary Frances has helped me break that down. Food isn't a source of guilt, a number on a scale does not increase or decrease my worth and how to redirect my thoughts to respect my body. She has given me tools that I need to begin to feel comfortable in my own skin and I am forever grateful! - SF

“I felt heard and understood.”

Allison's warm and caring nature makes it so easy to talk to her about my eating habits and insecurities. Her knowledge and advice has truly helped me gain a better understanding of what I need to do on a daily basis to live a healthier and happier lifestyle in a realistic manner. Within the first hour of talking to Allison, I felt heard and understood. She set forth achievable goals that I felt excited to work towards. I highly recommend Allison without hesitation! -RE

“I’m very thankful for the positive outlook I have now”

I was feeling really lost and confused in the land of diet culture before I turned to Tepper Nutrition. My dietician, Grace, was super warm and approachable and created a safe space for me to talk through all my concerns and provided solid guidance. Her counseling helped me establish healthy habits and transform my relationship with food and body image. I just wish I had met her earlier in life! I’m very thankful for the positive outlook I have now thanks to our partnership. - MM

We are passionate about helping clients achieve their goals through an approach that is unique to each individual’s needs. We focus on helping our clients create behavior and lifestyle changes through intuitive eating, using a non-diet, weight-inclusive, HAES-aligned approach. We believe that health is not solely about our food intake, but also one’s relationship to food and their body, their personal and cultural experiences with food, and factors such as movement, stress, sleep, and more. We meet with clients from infancy up to older adulthood and look forward to working with you!

You can meet with us at our Alexandria or Leesburg, VA offices and we also offer virtual appointments outside of our Virginia client base. Our team of nutritionists and dietitians can’t wait to support you!

The team at Tepper Nutrition sits on a blue couch together and all are smiling at the camera.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We have experience working with many client needs including general nutrition, eating disorders, emotional eating, GI Disorders, IBS and Low FODMAP, high cholesterol, food allergies, diabetes, sports nutrition, pediatric nutrition, prenatal and postpartum nutrition, PCOS and more! Our philosophy is based on intuitive eating and Health at Every Size® (HAES®) so we work on incorporating balanced eating while also listening to and respecting your individual body and its needs. This encourages maintaining a healthy relationship with food and your body while focusing on health promoting behaviors.

  • The initial session is about an hour and we will discuss your food and medical history, your lifestyle, sleep, stress levels, movement, your schedule and more. Follow ups are typically around 50 minutes where we will check in and build upon your goals and make any changes as needed. At the end of each session we will set about 2-3 goals to focus on.

  • We do!

  • We are out of network and do not accept insurance. This allows us to focus on our client’s specific, individual needs rather than the requirements of the insurance company. This also allows us to keep a smaller caseload so that our energy and time can go towards the appropriate care of our clients.

We can provide a superbill at the end of sessions to submit to insurance for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement rates vary depending on your insurance company.

  • A dietitian has either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition from a University approved by the Accredited Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. They then must complete an accredited year-long internship and then pass the national examination.

A Nutritionist might be someone who has gotten a degree in Nutrition but did not complete the supervised internship, someone who received a degree in a nutrition-related field, or it can be someone who has done a short certificate program. Many people call themselves a nutritionist, so it is important to check education and credentials to ensure that they have had proper training and education to help you reach your goals.
